Smart shopping cart firm A2Z Cust2Mate pays tribute to employee Tsachi Idan following tragic death
A2Z Cust2Mate, an Israel-based specialist in smart shopping carts, has taken to social media to share the news of the loss of employee, Tsachi Idan.
49 year old Idan was kidnapped by Hamas in 2023. He died in captivity and his remains were returned to Israel this week. He held the position of Engineer at A2Z Cust2Mate from May 2022 to May 2023.
In a LinkedIn post, the company said: “On 7th October 2023, Tsachi was kidnapped by Hamas during the horrific events of that day. Despite the best efforts to bring him back safely, Tsachi was killed while in captivity. He was not just a dedicated and valued member of our team, but also a loving husband, father, and friend.”
“He was known for his kindness, integrity, and unwavering support for everyone around him. His loss is felt deeply by all of us who had the privilege of working alongside him. Tsachi's spirit, character, and warmth will be missed more than words can express. We would also like to remember Maayan, Tsachi's beloved daughter, who was brutally murdered in the terrorist attack on 7th October.”
It added: “Maayan was taken from this world far too soon in an act of unspeakable violence. His body has been returned to Israel, and he will be laid to rest with the honour and respect he deserves. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family during this incredibly difficult time. We will remember Tsachi for the best of who he was - an extraordinary individual whose memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.”

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS
Smart carts will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards. which will open for entries in March, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”
He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”
“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”
Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
